Army of Women

The Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation and the Avon Foundation, a global leader in breast cancer research, joined forces to launch the Love/Avon Army of Women.
Our revolutionary initiative has two key goals:
- To recruit one million healthy women of every age and ethnicity, including breast cancer survivors and women at high-risk for the disease, to partner with breast cancer researchers and directly participate in the research that will eradicate breast cancer once and for all.
- To challenge the scientific community to expand its current focus to include breast cancer prevention research conducted on healthy women.
This was announced on ABC this morning and again tonight. A program to recruit 1 million volunteers to help the experts research breast cancer. I think this sounds like something this site can support and push as best we can.

...this to our attention, NH! I like that concept - "army of women."

It's about time they take breast cancer research seriously. I just recently heard that actress, Christina Applegate had a double mastectomy. She was out doing the talk shows to raise awareness. You go girl!

Did you know that medical research on women has always been underfunded. Everything we know about major diseases has come from research on men. But I don't have to tell you, Hampster, that our lady-bodies are constructed much differently
...especially true as it relates to heart disease and its testing methods. I had a big, shall we say, shouting match once with a sexist cardiothoracic surgeon about this very topic. Of course, it probably wasn't a very good idea to piss off one's surgeon.
