Lawson for NC 4th district
As a lifelong Democrat, I am naturally appalled to find myself likely not to vote for the down ticket Dems. Here I thought it was just Obama I'm not happy with. But the truth is, the cancer of selling out has reached down into the down ticket Dems. Maybe at some point, these well-intentioned folks DID champion the middle class, try to pass minimum wage increases, were concerned about protecting local citizens. The current crop of national Democratic leaders have paved the way for corporatism to take over, it appears.
Our North Carolina 4th district US congresscritter, D Price, has been the incumbent for 20 years. I've not been very pleased with his voting record the past few years, but hey, he's the Dem, so in the past I voted for him.
Until this election. The Rethug candidate attended a local festival here and took time to chat with me. I found myself agreeing with everything he said and what was printed on his literature. After I left, I wondered why he isn't a Democrat. The only answer I could come up with is that what he believes in, Democrats don't anymore.
Price voted FOR the $700B fat cat bonus giveaway, oh I mean 'bailout;' Lawson is against it.
Price wants to bring a bio-defense lab to North Carolina saying it will bring jobs. Increasing jobs is a laudable goal - but at what risk to the citizens? Isn't it usually the Democrat advocating for an environmental impact study and asking the Dept of Homeland Security how they will ensure the public safety? Not this time - that's the Republican, Lawson!
Price voted for the Patriot Act; Lawson wants to repeal it.
Price supports ethanol subsidies. In my view, those only help agribusiness and don't help our energy crisis. Lawson is against them.
Lawson is holding a public forum next week with Bruce Fein - you know, that Republican who wants to impeach Bush?
Which of these candidates is supporting 'Democratic' values? 2008 is the year of living in an Escher painting - up is down, black is white, Democrat is Republican?

David Price is my District 4 Rep as well. I'll take a look at Lawson this year. I do have to admit that I was disappointed when I learned Price endorsed Obama and not Hillary.
I'll vote for as many Dems as I can this year, but I've been known to cross-over for a rogue vote now and then. I know I definitely want Dole gone.
I'll go learn more about your races down in my wife's home state.
Don't Blame Me! - I Voted for Hillary
McGovern - Carter - Mondale - Dukakis - Clinton - Gore - Kerry - McCain
